Installing the Software

This section provides instructions for installing the software.

Installing the Fax Driver

Before using the fax function of your printer, you must install the fax driver for your

printer.

You can install fax drivers by following various procedures.

Refer to the ﬁgure below in order to decide which procedure is needed and read the

corresponding pages in this manual.

IMPORTANT

•

For Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP, log in (enter a user name and password as a means of

user authentication to start a computer session or access to a service) as Administrator

when you install the driver.

•

For imageRUNNER 400/300, only System Version 2.0 (or later) supports Fax Driver

Version 1.20 (or later).

•

If older versions of the drivers are already installed on your computer, it is recommended

that you use the Installer to update the existing drivers simultaneously when installing

new ones. If you want to update the existing drivers without adding new drivers, see

“Updating the Existing Fax Driver,” on p. 2-22. To check the version of the existing drivers,

open the [Properties] dialog box, and then click the [About] button on the [Conﬁguration]

sheet or the [Edit Address Book] sheet.
